Botkeeper is a young company, and so growing pains are painful. The system has undergone several major changes during the 2 years that I’ve been using it, and those transitions were not completely smooth. However, to date, all problems were successfully resolved and the team really worked to address them, and those problems were rare. The best thing about Botkeeper’s software is that it is invisible in the sense that it doesn’t dictate how you should use it to collect information that it needs, and so it’s very easy to fit into your workflow.
So instead of hiring a bookkeeper on your team, you can simply outsource things over to them. Through a combination of humans and technology, Botkeeper will take bookkeeping off of your firm’s plate. If you’re curious to know more about Botkeeper and whether it might be a good option for your accounting firm, I had a chance to interview their CEO, Enrico Palmerino, to learn more. Up and running quickly, Botkeeper learns the subtle, custom nuances of your business and continuously improves over time.
Excellent support and advice from the professional accounting team. Botkeeper enabled our business to move away from a traditional bookkeeping service, getting more accurate books for less money every month. There definitely can be a ramp up period in the beginning where lots of your time will be spent explaining how your business works, what accounts you use, etc.
A bookkeeper’s #1 job is to produce timely and accurate financials that lead to meaningful business decisions. Botkeeper is designed specifically for that purpose.
Historically, Botkeeper had its own Dropbox-style integration, and now it is switching to Google Drive. This means that providing receipts and other information is as simple as putting the digital scan of a receipt into the Google Drive folder. Or if you prefer, you can upload files by hand using the portal. Secondly, their portal provides nice views that show the state of your company’s finances. During the sales process, Botkeeper will take a look at you and your clients’ needs in order to prepare a fixed-price quote.
https://www.bookstime.com/articles/botkeeper has allowed us to quickly setup a new entity in all areas of accounting, invoice processing, payments and payroll. The use of Botkeeper has saved us time and money as we have not needed to bring additional resources on board. There are glitches and sometimes there are issues with reporting data to and from the Bot Team. The combination of automated features and human touch.
Not necessarily a knock on botkeeper though since I think this is a universal thing. The team is ready for all my questions and extremely cognizant of completing everything in a timely manner. Onboarding was tough but not because of botkeeper but because the process of getting someone up to speed about your business is always time consuming.
Firms that sign up with them will get access to a while-labeled platform that allows them to see and track the work being done and to communicate with their clients on bookkeeping related tasks. Finding a good bookkeeper is something that many firms complain about, so Botkeeper is attempting to solve the problem of being able to get bookkeeping help on-demand.
